Building Knowledge Together is the second course in Pathway A. Where Course 2 focused on the practice of collaborative reading, this course examines what collaborative reading produces. It investigates how groups move from shared annotation to shared knowledge — how individual interpretations, when woven together through sustained dialogue, generate understanding that transcends what any single reader could achieve.
Analyze how social annotation mediates knowledge construction at the group level
Distinguish between cooperative learning activities and genuinely collaborative meaning-making
Use social learning analytics to visualize and reflect on group annotation patterns
Practice annotation as scholarly production: peer review, collaborative writing, and co-construction of shared texts
Design annotation-rich learning environments that support sustained knowledge building
